Rainbow Bike (excerpt), 16mm film (2009)
Color reversal film; all in camera double and triple exposures of red, green and blue LEDs spinning on my bicycle wheels. The human eye has sensors for each of the three primary colors of light—red, green and blue—and all imaging technologies are based on that principle: cell phone screens, televisions, computer monitors, jumbo-trons, and digital video projections. This film takes apart the RGB LED digital process by using an analog method of mixing the light, spinning a wheel, and recording the colors. Shot in collaboration with Pittsburgh filmmaker Mike Bonello.
